This is a good example of a trend piece. The subject is golf but the idea is the classic trend piece – looking at a change in a topic of interest. Read it and take a look at the sources the reporter uses to give depth to his idea.

The author used a real estate developer, public relations consultant, owners of golf courses and statistics from the National Golf Foundation as sources in this piece. I wouldn’t have thought to use the public relations or real estate agent in a story about golf, but it helps add to his story and give it a rounded perspective.
